Bacchus Didn't Come

The river nymphs moved to the music of the woods
Their naked breasts gently swayed, brushing against cold falling leaves
The hills became alive in amorous mood
Revelling to invite Bacchus to their feast.
The Moon clothed in mantel drenched with blood
Glowing eeriely from Her throne in the Universe
In the silent of the jungle, the worshippers' song was heard
Gaily invoking drunken Bacchus.
Into the night the revellers sang
The winds, the nymphs, the woods and their rhythmless dance
Alas, alas, their lord did not hear 'em
Or was Bacchus too drunken to come?
